The Tenth of May

First I want to say Happy Father’s Day to Ben my AMAZING husband and the father to our unborn baby boy. You are going to make an awesome daddy! Then I would like to say Happy Father’s Day to my amazing dad, who without him I would not be as grounded as I am. You truly are the BEST dad a girl could ask for and a true role model for my brothers. Next I would like to say Happy Father’s Day to Bill, my father in law, I am so sure that Ben is going to make a wonderful Daddy because he has been taught by the BEST! Thank you for everything you do for us, it is appreciated. Last I would like to say Happy Father’s Day to my brother Josh, although he does not have kids by blood he has been playing the role for 2 years now, and making the decision to marry Brandi means he will be a step father. I already know he is going to be the BEST step dad and one day also to kids of his own! Ok, so I think that is everyone, but just in case Happy Father’s Day to all of of you hard working dad’s out there, life would not be the same without you in our lives! I hope you all have an amazing day and may it be filled with a whole lot of love.

Today marks my new shift at work. Ever since I have been when the Sheriff’s Office I have been very fortunate to have 1st shift. Well 1st shift has not been my friend throughout my pregnancy. Although there are days, when I am sick all day most of it seems to be from about 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. So my ingenious plan was to switch to a shift where I can sleep through all my sickness. It sounds a little crazy but so far it has worked. I have been practicing the last four days and have really noticed a difference.

So far today has been good. I woke up around 7 but stayed in bed until about 8:30. Ben and I then got out of bed and made breakfast. It pretty much felt like a weekend. Since Ben is working from home now everyday for him is a weekend morning but now I can join him. One of the biggest things I have missed is sleeping in together and waking up and making breakfast. After breakfast I cleaned the house, watched a little tv, spent some time with my hubby making lunch and by then it was 1:30 and time to leave for work. The drive was nice; it consisted of no crazy morning traffic or carpool lanes, which helps a lot with stress reduction. Parking pretty much sucked, because our lot was full but luckily I found a reserved Sheriff’s only spot to park in. So now it is about 8:30 and although I miss my hubby like crazy, I feel great, (a word I have not used in a very long time) and it is almost time to go home. No more getting up at 5 a.m. for me, woohoo!!!

Today we had another baby appointment. Our baby boy is doing really good, and has a nice steady heartbeat. His mommy on the other hand, not so good. Obviously, from my previous posts you can tell I have been having a pretty rough pregnancy. I was looking forward to this appointment, because I thought they were going to put me on a Zofran pump for all the nausea. Well apparently, they are not able to if you are gaining weight, and weight I am gaining a total of 8 pounds. I was in shock, and this not 8 pounds in 6 months, no, this is 8 pounds in 4 weeks. I still do not get it though; I would like to know where, because I am just starting to show. If I was to guess I would say in my boobs and butt that is the only thing I could think of it. Well according to the doctor it is mostly all baby, just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it is not there. Does this mean Ben and I are going to have a gigantic baby? Oh please say it isn’t so. I told Ben if this little boy is more than 8 pounds, he is coming out c-section, lol. Her suggestions for me was to lay off of the sugar, ok I admit I eat some candy, but nothing like what I have seen other pregnant women doing. I have seen full pizzas, apple pie with strawberry ice cream, and 32 oz sodas from QT. For me it is the occasional ice cream, skittles, and caffeine for headaches. Here is another fun fact though, that wonderful juice, that is supposed to be so good for us is loaded with sugar. I am thinking that is where a lot of it was coming from. So today I was really cautious about what I ate and drank. My day consisted of salad, veggies, chx, and french fries (I am still pregnant, and french fries are my weakness, especially hot burger king fries, yummy), so almost all good and nothing to drink but water. At the end of the day I felt like I did not feed my little man enough, and had no appetite, it was weird. I am pretty sure it was all in my head though. My mom and Ben’s mom thinks it is wonderful I am gaining weight. I have never had to watch what I ate, and what ever happened to being able to eat whatever you want when you are pregnant, I guess that only counts if you want to have a huge baby. No thank you, healthy yes, huge no!

It looks like there is going to be a few new additions to our family. Tonight my brother proposed to his girlfriend of 2 years, Brandi. I could not be more excited for them. He took her on a nice romantic weekend to Laughlin and proposed on the top of a parking lot with beautiful views of the city. My brother being so clever had someone there to take pictures and video of the proposal. It is like every girl’s dream to see there reaction of video for such a special moment. The ring is absolutely gorgeous, and he did it all on his own, minus a few phone calls of approval. He won’t admit it but I know he wanted my input.

The whole family has really got to know Brandi, and have fallen in love with her as well. There is a nice little piece to this story, along with a sister in law, we will also be acquiring her 2 little boys Tyler and Aidan. Apparently this family is just destined for boys. It is so amazing to see our family growing; holidays are just becoming too crowded for anyone’s dinning room. I guess it is better to have not enough chairs, than empty ones. No news yet on when the wedding will be there are still a lot of details to be worked out by them. I will keep you posted and hopefully I can get a hold of some pics and video of the proposal.
