Updates!

It is definitely time for some updates. If you remember I reported back in March that Ben was laid off the day we got the keys to our new house. It has been about 2 months since and things have been better than ever. We considered his lay off a nice vacation for him, which he definitely deserved. About 3 weeks in he was already under contract working again, but this time from home. We figured that was what he was going to do just work freelance from home for whoever needed work. Everything really could not have worked out better; with the new house he has his own office so he is really able to “get into the zone.” That is what I like to call it because he comes up with some pretty sick looking designs in there. I love that he has a space in the house all to himself, but I can still see him from the living room so we can give our little looks and I love yous back and fourth. He is an amazing husband and a wonderful provider for our growing family!

How about updates on the house next. The house has been an amazing thing for us, we have lived there for just over 2 months and we absolutely love it. We do things that we never really did before or were able too. We go out in the backyard and water our flowers; we eat dinner together on our back patio and front patio, take long walks around the neighborhood, and have picnics in our backyard on the grass. It is crazy how much of a difference a new home can make. We have been trying to get the house ready for a house warming party but it takes sometime, so far we have about 10 things on the walls, mostly all of the rooms are filled minus the dinning room. The dinning room is empty because we are having a hard time finding a table that we love. We are hoping by party time there will be a table and not just a big empty room. The only room I have a picture of is the kitchen so I will post the before and after shots of that. Lets see, yesterday I rec’d my vanity chair in the mail, that could not have matched any better. I knew because it was wood, it would look good with the bathroom cabinets, but no joke it looks like the wood was carved out of my bathroom cabinets, SCORE! Our next big tasks for the weekend is to get Ben’s office looking awesome for the at home computer classes he is starting.

Ok so next on the list of updates; our little man’s nursery. I have kept it all pretty hush about what we were planning for the nursery. To be honest I was not sure myself until the bedding came in yesterday. I was very pleased with everything. I knew I wanted something modern but not to wild for a little boy, after all he is a baby not an adult. Some of these baby beddings they have out now are just insane and a lot older looking than they should be for a new born, at least in my opinion. I will post a few pics of what we have so far, which is actually just the bedding and his closet because everything else has not arrived yet. A little side note: newborn diapers are adorable and super tiny. Ben and I bought our first pack of Huggies the other day, but I was too anxious so I opened them up right away. They are the best things I have ever seen, felt or held for baby so far. They are white with baby green and yellow and Disney characters. I will post a pic of them too; it just isn’t the same until you see them. It felt so real when I had one in my hand. I looked over at Ben and said pretty soon we will have something to put in this, ahh how amazing I can’t wait to put them on his little bottom. I highly suggest going and getting a pack a newborn diapers for the pure joy.
His closet is getting pretty full, well at least the one side

    Hi Amanda,

Things are looking good. Is Slater a cocker spaniel? With a hair cut? Or a mix?

I’ll have to take pictures of my cocker spaniel. She is a full breed and is redish brown. They say you usually pick a dog that looks like the owner. Well, I must like redish brown hair because Cassy and I match. She is a girl.

Ok, What is the name of your crib bedding set and where did you purchase it? On-line? Some really neat, somewhat expensive baby stuff…Check out their polka dot section: http://www.rosenberryrooms.com This is the best site that Terry and I go onto for ideas in our creating. They have so many styles and decor for baby to kids rooms. Terry, my little sister has duplicated so many canvas paintings, rocking chairs, wood lettering for the wall, etc. She does a wonderful job of painting. I monogram and sew. I do mostly custom decor. We have the Leivian creativity. God’s gift to us. Yeh!!! Are you waiting to announce Baby Leivian’s name at birth or do you have one already selected? I am full of questions. The decorator in me.

    Talk to you later.

    Love,
    Susan

    Hi Susan,

Slater is definitely a cocker but he did recently get a hair cut. He was the runt of the pack so he has a baby face and is tinnier than most. I guess the hair comment would hold true with Ben and Slater as well.
The name is Heirloom and I purchased it all online for JCP. I am still waiting for all the accessories to come in. Once I get everything completed than I will post better pics. I will have to check out those websites when I get a chance. There are still some things I would like to get for his nursery, hopefully that at least somewhat match.
That is cool about all the decorating, but since I am only a Leivian by marriage i think I will leave all of the creative design work to Ben.
I am not sure if we are going to wait or not. Right now we are not 100% decided on a name, we have a few ideas but nothing set in stone.

    Hope all is well.

    Mandy +1

I have never seen a picture of Slater, but with the name Slater I definitely imagined a different dog! Lol! Like a Shiba Inu or an Akita, something HUGE! Hahaha. He is SO CUTE THO!!
The bedding looks great Amanda! I love how precious it is. I agree that some are just WAY too wild! We still havent picked out bedding. We have the nursey started but we are going with a neutral theme either way!
And the kitchen looks so pretty. I love the cabinets. They are such a nice color! You guys are making your house a home and baby “Jonathan” will love it. :]
