Our baby’s heartbeat

Amanda Baby, Events No Comments »

Today was an amazing day for us; we got to hear our baby’s heartbeat for the very first time. We have been waiting for this since the very beginning. The first time they tried it was to early and all you could hear was my heart beating. I always imagined the first time we heard it I would be an emotional wreck. It was a different feeling though; I was just to overwhelmed and excited to cry. I have never heard a heart beating so fast in my life. Speaking of a fast heartbeat, the doctor told us that even though she does not go by this, that an old wives’ tale says that if the heart is beating fast it is more than likely a girl. So the normal range for a baby’s heartbeat is between 120 and 160. Do you want to guess what our baby’s heartbeat was beating at? It was at 153 beats per minute, super fast. The best part is Ben took a video so everyone can hear how fast it really was and how amazing it sounds. It must be a girl that is a very fast heartbeat according to the doctor. Normally I do not believe all the hype and tales, but there may be some truth to it. My mom told me that when I was in the womb my heart was beating at 156, a little faster but we still have 5 more months to get it up there. It has to be a girl it just does not seem like a boy would cause this many issues. Obviously, every pregnancy is different, but it is just a gut feeling we have. I do think it would be really funny if it was a boy, because that would mean that we were all wrong except for my brother who insists that we are having a boy. Even though we talk about what the baby is going to be, it really does not matter. We will be overjoyed whether it is a boy or a girl, all we really want is a beautiful happy healthy baby to love!

12 days until the big reveal…

Hope you enjoy the video.

Happy B-Day to me

Tonight was definitely not your typical 21st birthday, but never the less it was an amazing one. My day started off by waking up super early for work, which is the first time I have ever worked on my birthday, but you do what you have to do. After getting ready I headed downstairs and was greeted by my hubby making me breakfast and lunch for work which he had been working on since four in the morning. It was an awesome lunch; he made me a huge salad, noodles, veggies, and a few other snacks. I would have to say though my favorite part was when he wrote, “Smirnoff,” on my drinkable yogurt. He just wanted it to feel like I was having some booze. Then to top it all off he went and started the car for me. So I kissed him good bye and headed out the door, only to be greeted by balloons, a card, and a ton of confetti spread out by the door. Work was work, I never told anyone it was my birthday and being a new department no one knew either. Instead I spent the whole day helping one of my co workers count flyers for every school in the Mesa district, it was interesting. I could not wait to get home and see Ben, he was the only reason it felt like a birthday. When I got home I was greeted once again by Ben cooking, do you see a pattern here, what else do pregnant women do? It was really well thought out; he had steak, macaroni salad, bread, and macaroni. I guess he was in a macaroni mood. After the food was ready we took it out to our backyard and had a little picnic. It was awesome just spending time together, it just goes to prove you do not have to go out to have fun or drink for that matter. Right as we were finishing up our picnic, the door bell rang. My mom and brother came in carrying a ton of balloons and some goodies. It is crazy how I am 21 and I still get excite about balloons, I am not sure if I will ever out grow them. We had my plans to have cake at my parent’s house tonight around 8 o clock and then they left to do some stuff, a.k.a. pick up my cake. I then decided it was a perfect time to take a nap if I was going to be up late.

There is more to write about, hopefully I will have time later, basically the night gets better! 1980-01-01-at-00-00-23

Boy or Girl?

Amanda Baby, Events No Comments »

Pretty much the whole time Ben and I have been saying that we are having a girl along with my mom, Stephanie, and my grandma. Well before it was just a thought, a weird feeling and also with all the morning sickness I had we figured it had to be. Well like I said before it was just a hunch, but on the 27th of this month it will be a reality. Ben and I have talked about how crazy it will be if the baby turns out to not be a girl. We have been so sure for so long. When we originally talked about having kids we always wanted a boy and then a girl so he could take care of her. However throughout these few months we have wanted a little daddy’s girl for Ben. In the beginning Ben was a little scared of the idea of a girl because he has only been around boys his whole life. I am sure I was enough of culture shock and then to throw another one in the mix, he was probably overwhelmed. Like I have told him from the very beginning though is that no matter what our baby is, he is going to make a wonderful dad. All you have to do is see him around Slater and it is obvious. In all truth though it really does not matter what the baby is as long as it is healthy. That is another thing it will be so nice to be able to call the baby a boy or girl, or possibly by its name!

Everything is moved

Today we officially finished moving everything out of the old house, it is pretty funny that I say we considering the fact that I never even went to the old house in the process. I did a lot at the new house though to make up for it. Today Ben took me there and I was in shock, it was so crazy to see it completely empty and everything off of the walls it just did not feel the same inside. I guess that holds true with anything though, you make it what it is. I remember when I first met Ben; he had nothing on the walls but a guitar picture in a plastic frame, all different types of appliances, two mattresses on the floor made up the made, and completely white walls. It is amazing how much we did together in 3 years to make that house a home. It just makes me even more excited for this new home. It will be so nice to start customizing the home and making it our own. It is a different feeling when you have made something together. Anyone can buy a house but it is up to you to make it a home.

On a side note we will be having a new renter in our house on Friday. The whole situation worked out really perfect for us. I was a little bummed at hurting my brother’s feelings that was originally going to move in but I know it understands why.

Now all that is left it just to get all these boxes out of the new house. Hopefully by the end of week the house will be, “guest ready.”
